Optometry
Contact Lenses
If you already wear contact lenses, we may be able to update your prescription on a case-by-case basis. You must be able to wear or bring your contact lenses along with your prescription to your appointment. If you do not already wear contacts, we do not do an initial contact lens fitting.
Members on active flying status and enrolled in the Aircrew Contact Lens Program will receive an initial contact lens fit and subsequent follow-up care.
Ordering Glasses
Active duty personnel are eligible for glasses and gas mask inserts ordered through our military ophthalmic laboratories.
Retired personnel are eligible for glasses only. Retirees may order military spectacles with a current prescription from a civilian provider. Dependents in any category are not eligible for military procured eyewear.
Walk-ins are available for glasses fittings and adjustments Monday through Friday for:
- Gas mask insert/glasses order (with current prescription)
- Glasses repair and adjustment
Refractive Surgery
Refractive surgery is an elective procedure available for active duty personnel only, who are 21 years of age or older, and who meet all surgery criteria.
Interested members who have not had a routine exam in the last year should schedule a routine exam and discuss eligibility with the Optometrist. If you have had a routine exam in the last year, please contact the Optometry Clinic for further information.
